About Be Me Salon and Nail Academy

My name is Julie McCluskie, founder of Be Me Salon & Nail Academy. I’ve been a qualified nail technician since 2011, and I’m thrilled to have you here!

My journey into beauty began after a love for art in my childhood. After working in retail and spending several seasons in Majorca, where I met my husband Billy, I returned to Scotland in 2010 to start a family. In 2011, I trained as a nail technician, balancing part-time work from home with raising my two boys.

In 2019, I began working in a salon, which helped me further grow my skills and confidence. However, in 2021, I craved a better work-life balance and opened my own salon in my back garden, where Be Me Salon was born. My mission is simple: for every client to feel like they can be themselves and leave feeling happy with their nails.

In August 2024, I launched Be Me Nail Academy, eager to share my knowledge and help others start their own journey. Whether you’re new to nails or experienced, I’m excited to teach you everything I’ve learned over the past 13 years and help you build something wonderful!
